With the approach of St. Paddy’s Day I am surrounded by all things GREEN! Happiness!

I went and got a smoothie today and the guy behind the counter asks me if I like the color green…after wondering how the hell he knows this bout me I give him a funny look. He replies ” Well your nails are green, your keys are green ( key covers and funkeys), and your phone is sitting in a green flip flop mini shoe!” Then I went “Oh yea.” and thought man he is checking out my stuff, wonder why? Maybe he thought I was gonna rob him or somethin…ya know the more details you can remeber bout the perp, the better for the police sketch artist. Cause I such a thug!

So this morning I’m waiting for my ride to work to get here, and the animal kingdom is speaking very loudly! The dog is being very whiny and clingy. Thomas is following me everywhere. Zena keeps trying to sit on her Daddy while he is on the puter(she gets between him and the keyboard). And Punkynn is…Punkynn! She is running all over the place being a nut and chewing on EVERYTHING! Including Thomas. He in turn is biting her on the throat. His mouth encompasses her entire throat! They usually are only this energetic after I get home from work.

Do they sense something is bout to happen? Storm, earthquake, Cataclysym…who knows!?! But they are all nutty!!!

It’s not what you think…

No, I’m not talking about World of Warcraft!

The Kiddo was in a horseback riding tournament this weekend and I have to say I was blown away. She looked amazing! But I was totally unprepared for how emotional I would be when she was sitting on that beautiful horse waiting to hear who was in 1st place…Then they said “In 1st place #72 riding Formal Attire (Maddie) for Peeper Ranch.” she didn’t realize it was her number! Her teacher had to tell her it was her…then the look on her face was priceless! She got to ride over and they put a ribbon on her and then they put one around the neck of the horse. She got to take a victory lap all by herself with everyone screaming her name and clapping for her. I was wow’d! It was one of those moments she will never forget!!! I was so happy for her and so proud. She is a wonderful girl and I am continually shocked at what a great person she is becoming (she has her moments when I would like to bop her on the head with a nerf bat too!).

I’m a lucky Mom! And not at all biased.

After almost 3 weeks of abysmally cold and crappy weather, we are starting to thaw ( upper 30’s baby…a real heat wave!!!). We still have a bunch of icky looking snow piled up in parking lots and on the edges of streets, but for the most part we are back to Winter as usual…mild temps ( don’t get me wrong…still fuckin cold!!!), windy, and cloudy. But then I hear we are to get more snow this weekend?!? Don’t get me wrong, I like a white xmas as much as the next person, but enuff of this frozen white hell already!!!

If it isn’t snow it’s this creepy fog! We have been blanketed by fog 24/7 for a week now. Usually when I have seen fog it is early in the morning and then as the sun rises it dissipates…not this fog! It is almost like it has a mind if its own. It lasts all day and night (that’s when its the creepiest) and it’s thick. I can’t hear the train while I’m at work, or see the highway (it’s like 1 block from my window…and I can usually always see it very easily), that’s some thick ass fog!

So I get a panicked call from the Kiddo this morning…”Mom (that’s what she calls me) I left my homework in my room. Can you bring it up to me?” I tell her to calm down I can’t understand her very well when she is upset and to repeat her previous statement…then I tell her “No!” This is an ongoing problem with her. She is in junior high and frankly I’m tired of bailing her out of trouble! She’s either gonna learn to get her shit to school with her in the mornings or she’s gonna fail a grade! It’s not like we are just 2 minutes from her school (not that that would make a difference in this case.). She is always forgetting things and having me drop them off for her or having grandma or grandpa fix it for her. I mean really, when is she gonna learn if we are always there to pick up the pieces?!? So today she is getting 2 punches on her discipline card for the 2 classes she won’t have her homework for. Welcome to life Kiddo!

Honey wants a TV in his office so he can go “Get his kill on!” in peace and quiet without hearing the Kiddo and I talk or play with the kitties or so forth as we do in the living room. He can’t possibly play on the smaller TV(his words not mine). Not after he’s gotten used to playing on the nice big screen with HD…Spoiled brat! That would also mean buying another Ps3 cause we use the thing to watch movies and TV series we dont have on DVD and we have our Netflix instant Queue on the Ps3 as well. So he wants to spend about $800-$1000 on his new little habit (Call of Duty; Modern Warfare 2)…just because the Kiddo and I won’t go hide in the bedroom so he “have” the living room whenever he feels like it. “Honey…keep dreaming!!! Oh and by the way, I love you bunches baby!”

So yesterday was a day from hell! It all started with a school bus getting stuck in the ice at the end of my driveway. couldn’t get out no one else could get in. My street is one of the worst in the city…when they finally did plow my side of the island all it did was scrape the top layer of icy mountains. Making the street similar to an ice rink. Then it snowed again on Sunday and we had snow on top of the nice thick ice. After I got home and the bus was gone I noticed it had left nice thick grooves in the ice.

Then I find out we are supposed to get more snow on Wednesday and Thursday. We are trapped in winter hell! And the temp is gonna be ten degrees below zero. I’m already having trouble moving and the temp is still hovering in the teens and twenties…how hard is it gonna be when the mercury drops below zero?!?

We had to go to a funeral today…sucko city in general…but we got directions from google maps. I was the navigator, Chris the driver. As we get closer it tells us take a right (as we pass our ultimate destination on the other side of a non divided road) into a neighborhood then take another right then take a u-turn and go back to our destination on the other side of the road. WTF?!? Why not just turn left off the highway and avoid all the right turns and u-turns and sending us into the neighbor hood from hell!!!

Once we go into said neighbor, the streets are a solid sheet of ice and all the streets go down hill! Once we go in we can’t get back out!!! We are sliding all over the place, almost slid into a tree twice, three different poles and several different cars. This is after trying ( unsuccessfully ) to go up different streets than the ones we were on. We just kept getting a little bit up the hill then, we would start the slide…sometimes straight back other times sideways. Always without luck! Until Honey pulled out the fancy driving and went and got us out of danger. He was AWESOME! My knight and shining armor. I really thought we were gonna be stuck in suburban ice hell freezing our assess of and needing to pay for our truck to be towed out of that shit.

All of this just to go to a funeral…wouldn’t want to be late to stand around and talk about old times in the parlor of a funeral home! But at least getting there wasn’t boring!!!

When I was little I remember thinking what it would be like to live in the year 2010. Flying cars, houses made of metal and plexi glass sitting far up in the air, and pushing buttons for everything you could possibly need or want and having it appear instantly in front of me(and when finished it would open a slot and remove and trash and dishes along with it). Yes it was a future based in part on the Jetson’s, in part from movies of the day, and the rest from the hopeful creativity of a child’s mind.

As the years ticked away and I grew older, cars were getting no closer to becoming the aerial disks as I had always seen in the futuristic movies. In fact with the birth (and rise in popularity)of the SUV cars were getting bigger and heavier…not smaller and lighter. This wouldn’t work at all my young mind thought however would a Suburban get its big butt off the ground?Maybe it just needed some Flubber!!

Funny to me how the thoughts of a child(no matter how whimsical and farfetched they seem now) stick with you.

I can’t believe another year has come and gone! I had a great xmas all be it a bit weird. Our xmas is gonna done in segments this year. We got a blizzard this year and so we couldn’t get out and no one could get in. We got almost 3ft! Then we do xmas with my family tonight, and Chris family later in the week or weekend. Chris, his mom and I gave each other phones for xmas. So we have had like 2 solid weeks of gift exchanging and family dinners and parties and fun stuff.

The bad part in all of it is Chris’s uncle had to have back surgery(that will be Wednesday). Chris had a friend pass away so we have a funeral to attend. And Chris’s truck got stuck in our street trying to come into our driveway! Poor little puppy goes outside to pottie and the snow is up to her tummy. At least the poop is already by snow as soon as she goes. Those little fuckers next door cant see it, and when they go into our yard to tease the puppy when she is at the door they will get a surprise!!!

So this week(past week) has had its ups and downs but I guess that is true with everything. But overall it was a great xmas spent with Honey and Kiddo we had a roaring fire in the fireplace, a delicious pot roast for supper, we each got to enjoy our gifts and played video games together, and just hung out safe and warm enjoying the look of a white xmas…knowing we didn’t have to leave the house made us appreciate it all that much more! It was truly a magical day. Probably the best xmas I have ever spent.
