Anyone who reads my blogs knows that I wholeheartedly supported Adam’s Rib BBQ restaurant. But recently it has come to light that they have screwed over a bunch of poor, defenseless dogs and cats. They did a charity brisket burger eating contest and never paid the winners charities the monies they supposedly earned. The charity that was s’possed to get the biggest chunk of money is The Pet Connection in Mission.

The winner was a DJ from 105.1 Jack fm, and I don’t know if it’s cause the radio station called the tv stations or the shelter called them, but ever since the restaurant filed bankruptcy(2 months after the contest happened) there has been a shit storm of media publicity! They have been on at least 3 or 4 different tv stations and the radio… and there was an article about all of this in the Kansas City Star! Hope(owner of restaurant) has just sat back and been like “Oh well!”(it seems). She has done nothing to try and make good on that commitment!

My daughter, Mother-in-law and I bought a bunch of supplies(food,litter, treats, toys, bones and catnip) and went over to the shelter. Seeing some of those precious animals( a blind puppy, a puppy with IBS…skin conditions…and not able to gain weight, a puppy who has control issues about her paws, & many, many more) who all need care and ultimately forever homes.

The shelter is the only place I have ever seen that lets its kitties run around loose(but not the kittens…they would be into EVERYTHING!!!) They have separate rooms for some of them (I would imagine some kitties don’t play nice with others. My Tommy wouldn’t be able to be around a lot of other babies, he likes to be the big Kahuna!) But it is the coolest place.We got to hand out our treats and the guy who works there was like “Oh great, just what I needed having a bunch of whacked out kitties{catnip}!” it was funny.

I think Ami and I are going to take their volunteer class so we can go and help care for the animals !

Gets ignored yet again!

Go into a store and what will you see? Xmas decorations!!! Xmas ideas and maybe (in some places)Xmas music! I’m a person who enjoys Halloween, no I LOVE Halloween! I think it should last a week! Maybe we should steal a page from those Kwanzaa organizers and make it an 8 day celebration. You get the point. Every year my yard gets busier and busier. Once Ami grows up and moves away I’m gonna be known as the crazy Halloween lady w/the cats(not the other way around)!

Hell Hobby Lobby even censors Halloween entirely because they are They will put out scarecrows and pumpkins (jack-o-lanterns too if they have happy faces…hypocritical,YES! But they own the places) dried corn and leaves all very fall but not much in the way of true Halloween! Except owned by a Christian organization. So they choose to forgo taking my money for this holiday because it upsets their delicate religious values! for a week or so at the end of August or the beginning of September when no one is thinking of Halloween they will put out a few non scary, non magic, non Halloween(in my opinion)…Halloween items.

I miss my Kiddo…she needs to come home now! She’s been gone from home too long now!!!

Some of the people around me are freakin out about getting flu shots…so of course Ami’s getting one. But the everyone asks me if I’m getting one, so then it makes me think…should I be? But then I have people who tell me they get a mild case of the flu when they get the shot (don’t want to go through that). So you still have to suffer with the damn symptoms! What the hell is the benefit? I have had the flu like three times in my life and that whole pig flu thing wasn’t nearly as bad the 1st time around that the world thought it would be. So I think I will skip the irritation!!!

Today at work when I went to leave to get lunch, I was informed by Mother Dear that I needed to let the Dispatcher know I was leaving so he could answer the phone!?! I’m sorry isn’t that part of his job as well? Does he ask me if he can leave to go have a cigarette? Hell half the time they just sit there and let it ring even when they aren’t doing anything else!!! Like when I had my hands full of trash bags headed out the door to go out to the dumpster the phone started ringing and when I came back thru the door it was still ringing and he hadn’t moved one bit! Like he couldn’t hear it or something?!? God forbid it interrupt his TV show…or maybe actually get off his ass and do his damn job!

But NOOOO! It kinda feels like I’m a woman asking a man for “permission” to do something. It’s a double standard! I’m never one of those women’s libbers, but I don’t ever feel the need to ask a man if I can do something!
