Ambiance on the water in the beautiful Country Club Plaza area of downtown Kansas City, Missouri is a sight to behold. it is modeled after the famous river walk in San Antonio, TX and the canals of Venice. what they don’t tell the scores of tourist they attempt to lure to the area to take a “romantic” gondola ride is that if it has rained in the last few days you are riding on a river of pod water! Yes The Ambiance on the water is held in the majestic brush creek…which is for sewer runoff during storms. so when it rains the entire place smells like a giant turd! I know this because we were down there today and it reeked! it rained all day yesterday and even the water that was spraying up into the fountains out in the creek was brown and foamy. Not a pretty picture! and unless you’re into that sort of thing (which we are NOT), not my idea of a romantic evening. and god forbid my spouse decided to surprise me with this “cruise” and we were out there and I got this sewer water sprayed on me from these fountains…it would NOT be pleasant for any persons involved (spouse, gondolier, manager, owner,city manager, any passers by you get the picture).

But…in all fairness they do warn you est. This sign is on the walkway down to the boats…but after you have already paid for your ticket!

I thought rain was supposed to be cleansing!

chris and I went to the plaza today which is something my family and I used to do when I was little we would walk around and the JC Nichols fountain was my favorite and Pandora always liked the pig with the gold nose and the statue of king triton. then we would just wander around looking at all the statues and fountains and tossing coins in them. it was just like when I was a kid. although the places looked a bit different around the fountains and statues they still looked as I remembered them.

we had the most amazing crabmeat, asparagus, mushroom, and mixed pepper omelets this morning they were so amazing! I am not a big egg or even a big breakfast person person but we were hungry so we got breakfast while we were out and when I got a bite if was totally hooked! perfect day…it was a perfect day! we talked, walked, laughed, kissed, held hands, took pictures, looked like tourists, and just generally enjoyed being silly and together (at least I did). I just hope it meant as much to him as it did to me. I love that man. that beautiful, silly, sweet, caring, smart, thoughtful, intelligent, brilliant, witty, fun to be around, other piece of my soul.
